4 WAYS TO BREAKTHROUGH A PLATEAU

New Crossfitters have superpowers! they can make huge improvements to their fitness at extraordinary rates. Unfortunately, these superpowers are temporary and once you cross that line from ‘Beginner’ to ‘Intermediate’ you will need to get a little more savvy if you want to continue to progress.

Here’s how….

Exercise your mind as hard as your muscles

Be focused and engaged in class, ask the coach as many questions as possible and decide what you want to achieve before a class, do you want to focus on keeping your feet together during pull ups? knees out during squats? or breath control during a heavy lift? all these seemingly small details can add up big improvements.

Eat like an Athlete

What you fuel your body with outside of the gym will affect how you perform inside the gym. Have an honest look at what you are eating, are you fueling yourself with natural and wholesome foods?

Train Hard, Rest Hard

Are you hitting it hard 6x per week and getting frustrated at your lack of progress? the best way to continue to progress in CrossFit is to be diligent with your rest days. This is the time that your body reaps the rewards from all your hard work in the gym. Don’t be a victim of overtraining!

Personal Training

Talk to a coach about a Personal Training session. This can be a good option if you would like some extra coaching on a specific movement. Perhaps you struggle to drop under the bar during Snatches? freak out when handstands are written on the whiteboard? or you find that your mobility stops you from even attempting an Overhead Squat. A little extra attention can set you up for big breakthroughs.
